Sarah Jayne Severs
Sarah Jayne Severs died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 14, 2022, at home with her husband by her side. As she desired, she has been cremated and no service is scheduled.
Jayne was born to Harry and Marilyn Bebensee on Feb. 28, 1955, in Atlantic. Jayne’s family moved to Johnston in 1963, and she became a lifelong resident. She graduated from Johnston High School, where she ran track, did drill team and wrestling cheer. Following high school, Jayne graduated from cosmetology school and was a beautician for a short time before starting to work for Bankers Life, which became Principal Life Insurance. She thoroughly loved the various positions she held with Principal. Unfortunately, debilitating migraine headaches put her on disability for the last 22 years of her life. It was during this time she researched her family history and provided detailed information about her maternal and paternal sides of the family. Family members reached out to her for individual backgrounds or burial sites. She enjoyed going to cemeteries with family members and taking notes for her research. Her extensive knowledge of family history has been well documented and will be missed.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Robert Severs; son, Jonathan (Samara) Cheely; two grandsons; step-granddaughter; four step-grandsons; stepdaughter, Krystal (Christopher) Malloy; mother; three siblings; and other family. She was preceded in death by her father, brother-in-law, David J. Bejarno, and grandparents.
